A Touch Of Odisha In Delhi’s Ongoing International India Trade Fair 2017

In order to woo the prospective global and domestic investors who are visiting the ongoing International India Trade Fair (IITF)-2017, Odisha Government has put up an elegant pavilion at the venue.

The state government has crafted their pavilion inspired by the iconic Konark Sun Temple. The craftsmen, with the use of locally available items have created a small replica of the Sun temple chariot on one side of the pavilion while another side boasts of Odisha Government’s initiatives to boost trade and industry in the state, through multimedia posters and LED screens.

The Odisha pavilion was inaugurated on Tuesday by the State I&PR Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh while the global trade fair has been inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind to bring global and domestic investors under one roof.

According to government reports, the blue-coloured wrapped pavilion of Odisha has been constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore 30 lakhs and is spread across an area of 400 sq mts. Various Indian states including Karnataka, Telangana and others have also installed their pavilion to attract industries in their respective regions.

However, to ensure the gratification of the non-business visitors who are keen to visit the Odisha pavilion, around 30 stalls have been offering the Delhites a taste of Odisha.

Stalls of Odishara Rasgulla, Sambalpuri Sarees, silver ornaments, filigree and decorative items, tribal jewellery and many others have also been put on exhibition-cum-sale basis. Since the last three days, footfalls on Odisha’s pavilion has escalated and is likely to increase on the weekend. The trade fair which started from November 14 will culminate on November 23.

However, to ensure facilitation of key information relating to trade and commerce, Odisha government has created 4-5 theme based offices which provide information about government schemes, state trade policies and other details. Volunteers and officials equipped with publicity materials and key documents have also been chipped in to deal with the business delegations.

Nevertheless, besides the Odisha pavilion, around 3,000 exhibitors, including 222 companies from foreign countries are participating at IITF 2017. Institutions range from self-help groups to big business houses and from small-medium manufacturing enterprises to digital start-ups besides several representations from different ministries of the Union Government.
