Attention Gamers! This VR Gaming Zone Is A Must-Visit!

Imagine you are atop a hot air balloon, several feet high among the clouds and suddenly it catches fire. You have to quickly shift to another balloon mid-air on a narrow plank, which is just enough the size of your feet. Sounds scary? We have another option for you. Did your friend ditch you last minute for the much-awaited Goa trip? Vent out all your anger by throwing stones, bricks and fire at him, but without hurting him in real! Welcome to the world of Virtual Reality, where every moment is too real to be untrue.

Inaugurated in December, the Virtual Reality Gaming centre ‘VR Galaxy’ in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar is the first of its kind in eastern India. With five games already in place, and many more to be included, it is the perfect place for all gamers in the city. Though the city has a few gaming centres, VR Gaming zone has taken games to a different level altogether.

“We started the VR Galaxy in December and the response has been overwhelming. Though anyone can come and play the games, we recommend it for the 8 to 45year age group,” says Amitav, co-owner of the gaming zone.

The gamers are made to wear an Oculus (VR headsets) and thanks to the cutting-edge technology, they are taken to a completely different world once the computer is switched on. For safety purpose, they are tied with belts and a staff is always around to assist.

The VR Gaming Zone in Bhubaneswar has been designed by a Research and Development team, which is exclusive for them.

“Our idea is not to keep static games. If the games don’t change with time, people would get bored and not come to play after two or three visits. So, our idea is to develop new games every two to three months and give variety to our customers,” he says.

“We are coming up with Virtual Cricket game very soon. Also, there will be a roller coaster game where the gamer would feel the thrills of the ride in real. We are also developing a game, in which the gamer will be put inside a cage and has to defend himself from the demons surrounding him.”

To attract maximum customers, the gaming zone has been priced keeping the Odisha market in mind. While the individual games cost Rs 150 each, a combo offer of three games is priced at Rs 450. Pictures by: Rakesh Roul
