Choklate Music Awards Honours Singing Talents In The State

Bhubaneswar 18: The first-of-its-kind awards ceremony in the state, Choklate Music Awards, hosted by ‘Radio Choklate 104 FM, Odisha’s apna No.1 FM station’, on Saturday was all about the love for music.

The awards ceremony was organised at Utkal Mandap to celebrate the completion of ten years of the group in the radio industry and becoming a household name in Odisha. The evening witnessed a massive gathering of music lovers and fans, while singing talents from the state were awarded for their achievements in the field of music.

The evening began on a spiritual note with a popular Odia devotional song and continued with many yesteryear and contemporary singers performing on stage followed by the award distribution ceremony.

Among the 27 awards that were given away on the evening, the song ‘GanapatayeNamah’ was awarded the best devotional song of the year. Among the other awards, child singer Satyajit Jena was awarded the Singing Sensation Award while Asima Panda bagged the Upcoming Odia Female Singer of the Year for the song ‘Mu Khanti Odia Jhia’. The Upcoming Odia Male Singer of the Year was awarded to Tariq Aziz.Similarly, the Junior Singer Award was given to Chunmun, whereas Best Music Director Award went to Premananda for ‘Tu Mo Love Story’ and Bharadwaj Panda in the non-film category. The Best Male Playback Singer award was given to Human Sagar, while Ananya Sritam Nanda got the Best Female Playback Singer.Besides singing talents, awards were distributed in many other categories that included The Best Song of the Year that went to two of the most popular songs of this year- ‘Gajal Gajal’ (film Abhaya) and ‘Tu Mora Nihati Darkar’. The best music video award was given to song ‘Shezadi o Shezadi’ and ‘Niswas To Bina’. The Best Remix Song Award was given to ‘Nahni Mo Pade Aji Nupura’.

The Chocolate Legend of the Year Award was given to the most renowned Odia singer Prafulla Kar. Receiving the award, he said, “I feel honoured and happy to have received this award at this age. It is one of the happiest moments of my life.”“The craze of radio will be always there and it is the best medium to listen to songs. But songs these days, are losing their essence as there is more music than lyrics in them,” said Kar. Adding further, he told his fans, “Even today, I am happy with singing and given a chance, my performance will be as good as it used to be.”
