Gardens At Governor House Bloom With Happy Faces

Bhubaneswar, January 8: People taking selfies, sitting on the lawn and chatting, capturing good memories with friends and family members; it was happy faces all around as scores of visitors thronged the gardens of Governor House which was opened for public from Monday onwards. The gardens will remain open from 2pm to 5pm till January 28.With the gardens receiving a footfall of around 4000 visitors on the first day itself, the authorities are hopeful that the number of visitors would increase in the coming days.Besides the beautiful green lawns and gardens, the visitors are allowed to witness the cactus house, water fountain, musical fountain, ayurvedic garden, rose garden and deer park. Like every year, this time too, the garden is blooming with many varieties of flowers. Informing about various arrangements, Basant Kumar Padhi, horticulture officer said, “There are around 39 varieties of flowers in the garden. This apart, a new aviary has been built where three peacocks from Nandankanan were brought which we believe will be a major attraction for the children. The park is open for all general public for free. A visitor will be allowed to enter the premises from 2pm to 4pm only, and will be allowed to remain in the garden till 5pm after which they have to vacate the garden.”

Every year, the garden is opened two times, in the month of January and February. This time the garden doors will remain open only during January and won’t be open for people in the month of February.

Sanghamitra Patnaik, a student of Rajdhani College who was there with her friends said, “The garden really looks beautiful, specially the fountains. There are some flowers which I have not seen before. Getting an opportunity to explore the premises of the Governor House is a first-time experience and I loved it.”
