Meet Priya Priyambada Who Is Travelling And Blogging Her Way To Popularity!

If you thought travelling was all about spending from your pocket, you haven’t met Bhadrak-born girl Priya Priyambada yet! Nothing in this world can stop her from travelling and the best part is she makes a living out of it too.

An Odia girl, now settled in Kolkata with her husband, Priya is part-time model and a full-time travel and lifestyle blogger. Today, she is a popular name on social media and in fact one of the very few from the state who is into travel blogging.Mention ‘travel’ and she is ready in an instant to share her insights. “I was fond of travelling from childhood. But, I didn’t know I could make a living out of it. After I left my job at a multi-national company, a few of my friends suggested I should start noting down details and documenting places I visit. That’s how my website came up,” says Priya, who created a website in her own name last year.

It started as a passion which soon turned into a profession and now Priya gets paid to do what she loves.

“Initially, I used my savings to travel. But, after my work started getting noticed, some companies offered me to travel and write about them. In one year, I have been able to sponsor my trips, which is great,” says Priya, whose website has decent page views on a daily basis. At a time, when issues on women safety are raking up, Priya’s solo adventure busts the myth surrounding solo travel. “I don’t know if I am lucky to have not faced harassment while travelling alone but that is the fact. I have never faced any sort of issue, whatsoever,” she confesses.

“I do a lot of planning before taking up any trip. I think that has ‘protected’ me from eventualities.”

The young girl has already travelled across the country- from Manali, Kerala, West Bengal to Bihar and the North East and two international destinations and might soon hop on a Europe tour!

“Europe Tour was due last December, but I had to cancel it because of my pregnancy. But, I still love travelling so my husband took me to a hill station instead. After my baby is born, I will plan the Europe trip again,” she confirms.

But, what is it that Priya loves so much about travelling? “Travelling changes you as a person. I am not the same person as I used to be. Earlier, I would struggle and overthink about life. Now, life is a bliss for me. I feel more sorted out. In fact, travelling solo has made me be myself.”Though the travel and lifestyle blogger believes each place has its own charm, the trips to Rajasthan and Thailand are among her favourites.

For tourism in Odisha, she has an advice, “I feel Odisha tourism industry has a lot to offer but we are failing to grab the attention of tourists. There needs to be more promotions, so that people will flock our state.”
