Mystic Kalinga Literary Festival To Commence From December 22

Gearing up to host all the eminent personalities of the literary world in the country including Padma Vibhushan Yogi Sadhguru, Mystic Kalinga, an international festival of poetry and performances will commence from December 22.

While Sadhguru, who recently launched the Rally for Rivers, a much-appreciated nation-wide public awareness campaign and movement to restore and revitalize the Indian rivers, will grace the festival as the chief guest and the keynote speaker; he will speak about his book and reflect upon his literary and spiritual journey. Leading poet and writer Arundhati Subramaniam who has co-authored Sadhguru’s new book, ‘Adiyogi: The Source of Yoga’, will also discuss on the book.The two-day festival will witness the participation of many prominent writers from across country including Ashok Vajpeyi, Keki N. Daruwalla, Jayanta Kripalani, Jayanta Mohapatra, Hasan Kazmi, Pranesh Prasad, Shakeel Azmi, Vinod Dua, Kooky Tuason, Marty Tengco Noriko Mizusaki, Ruchita Kazaria, Dr. Mrinal Chatterjee, Saira Shah Halim, Naseem Nikhat, Satyarth Nayak, Jitendra Mishra, Pratibha Ray, Pratibha Satpathy, Kedar Mishraand Paramita Satpathy among others. There will be multi-lingual poetry sessions in Odia, Bengali, Hindi, Urdu and English besides performances during the festival by local folk artists.

Informing about the event, founder and president of the festival Rashmi Ranjan Parida said, “The festival is an initiative to highlight and focus on literature especially on poetry and performances. It is motivating to see such a huge positive response for Mystic Kalinga from every nook and corner of the world. Recently, the team of Kalinga Literary Festival has also expanded its outreach to Kandhamal and has plans to take Mystic Kalinga to different regions of Odisha, India and South East Asia.”

He further said, “Literature has the potential to connect a divided society and can transform self-centeredness to world-centeredness. The festival is a platform to connect with people’s hearts through poems,music, dance and meditation.”

Meanwhile, the Mystic Kalinga Literary Award has been also been instituted to recognise and celebrate three prolific writers, poets and performers in Odia, one Indian language and an international language. This year, Arundhathi Subramaniam, Nabneeta Dev Sen and Soubhagya Kumar Mishra will receive the awards.In another event organised by the same team, seven prominent personalities from different backgrounds will be felicitated with the Odisha Living Legend Award. The awardees include Pratibha Satpathy in Literature, Prasanta Nanda in Entertainment, Subas Pani in Public Policy, Professor Annapurna Pandey in Education, Kartik Majhi in Social Service, Chaturbhuj Meher in Art and Culture, Debasis Mohanty in Sports and Jogesh Pati in Science.
