The tale of Gun For Glory academy speaks in itself the visions of great visionary and the conviction to take India to the very global stage of Shooting. Founded by London Olympic Bronze Medalist Gagan Narang, Pawan Singh who is the former coach of Indian Shooting Team, and the famous veteran actor and National Shooter, Nana Patekar, Gun For Glory is India’s 1st privately managed shooting facility with world class infrastructure, training, coaches, staff made accessible to talented shooters via scholarship and fee subsidies.

Gun For Glory is spread across 12 different cities of India, and all thanks to the visionary Mrs. Renu Chowdhury who wrestled all the way to endow Bhubaneswar with its very own Gun For Glory, in association with Odisha Rifle Association. Her dream didn’t come to a halt here, as she further envisions by saying that, “My aim is to send my very own students to the 2024 Olympics at any Herculean cost.” It is this conviction that encourages her students to drag out the shooting enthusiasm in them and take it to the highest level.
To impart the skill of Shooting to the young talents, the training has been divided into 3 different levels as mentioned below:
Level One-First Shot:
This introduces the individuals to the world of sport of Shooting. The main aim of this level is to identify the natural talents in shooting, which is immense in India. The conceptualization of this course has been entirely done by foreign coaches having an experience of 40 years with 10 different countries. All the students are trained at the state of the art Olympic Facility Shooting Range. Level One majorly focuses on mind training, self control, patience, accuracy and all basic techniques of Shooting.
This level provides a more in-depth study of the theory as well as practical sense. It introduces the Level One Shooters to the arena of imported rifles and pistols, which are used by professional shooters. It also includes the fundamental and practical skills necessary for marksmanship shooting.
Level Three-Bulls Eye:
This level imparts professional training program with the specialized format for individual shooters, including advance training and advance technical specification with due instructions from experienced coaches. Weekly matches are held to make the rookie shooters suitable enough to handle match pressure. Physical training is provided as per the guidelines of experienced fitness trainers. With all these regular practices, a shooter can participate in district or state level competition within three months and Pre-national level within 6 months. And the race goes till the Olympics. Today India is in a rugged phase in the Sports arena, for reasons varying from lack of proper infrastructure to the red tapism of biased and unfair politics, yet out of all odds, women like Renu Chowdhury are keeping the abating spirit of sports in India and are trying to take it to the next level.
