Talk of the most successful directors in Odia cine industry today and you cannot miss out on the name of Ashok Pati. With his unique directorial style, he has given Ollywood and cinema lovers many entertaining movies from Deewana to Loafer, Love Station to Sister Sridevi. While most of his films in Ollywood have tasted box office success, not many of his fans know that this talented director has also spread his magic in Bengali film industry.

Ashok Pati, in fact, is credited with four successful movies in Bengali including Khiladi, Ami Shudhu Cheyechi Tomay, Aashiqui and Romeo vs Juliet. The director has now just completed shooting of his fifth Bengali movie ‘Inspector Notty.K’ under Jeetz Filmworks Production house. The film stars Bengal superstar Jeet (who has also worked in an Odia film, ‘Suna Sankhali’ in 2003) and actress Nusraat Faria Mazhar.

Most part of the film has been shot in Italy. The rest has been shot across West Bengal and Bangladesh.

‘Inspector Notty.K’ is a romantic comedy. The story is based on a Hawaldar, who is the protagonist in the film. He comes from a family where most male members have served in the police force but none has gone beyond the post of a Hawaldar! Determined to get promoted to the rank of an inspector, the protagonist goes on a mission to Italy where he also comes across the heroine and falls in love with her. How he eventually becomes an inspector and wins his love is what the story is based on.

The film, made with a budget of Rs. 5 crore, will be released during New Year. The release date will be finalised soon. On being asked, how he manages to direct movies in Bengali, being an Odia, Pati tells MCL, “Art has no language. So, I have no problem with Bengali at all. I can speak a little bit of Bengali and understand the language very well so this is enough for me to direct a Bengali film.”
