Upasana Mohapatra Underlines Her Displeasure With Congress As Lulu Sena And Family Join BJP

Bhubaneswar,October 14: In a mega political event hailed as the ‘Misran Parba’ by BJP, late Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra’s daughter Upasana and brother Lalitendu, followed by hundreds of Lulu Sena activists officially joined the saffron party, today at the Exhibition Ground in Unit-III.

While the event witnessed a gathering of nearly 4000 members and workers, the joining ceremony was conducted in the presence of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other senior leaders including BJP legislature party leader KV Singhdeo, BJP State President Basant Panda and other eminent leaders like BhruguBuxipatra and Biswabhusan Harichandan.

Speaking on the occasion,Dharmendra Pradhan said, “There are only a few political leaders in the state who have openly opposed and pointed out faults with Naveen Patnaik and his government. Late Lulu Mohapatra had always been a firebrand leader and had boldly opposed what he thought was wrong. He was the real representative of the people and was one of the popular leaders of the state. We are confident that his daughter and brother, as well as his young team of workers, influenced by his ideology, will stand up against the ruling government. We hope, in future, Upasana too will become one of most popular and efficient leaders of the state.”

Upasana Mahapatra, in her speech, blamed the Congress party for her father’s death, despite his unwavering allegiance to the party, even till his death. She said, “I do not regret leaving the party that my father gave his life for, as they removed him from his party position on the grounds of misbehaviour at a time when he was bedridden. I cannot ignore how they chose to easily overlook his immense contribution to the party and the state. Rahul Gandhi had called me after five days of his death.”

“In the days to come, I would work to turn my father’s vision for the state into a reality,” said the young politician in her maiden address to the gathering.
