Upcoming Ollywood Movies To Look Forward To This New Year

The holiday season is here, and it’s time to book the coming weekends! With some exciting Ollywood movies lined up to hit the theatres, get ready to grab your tickets. My City Links takes a look at the most awaited upcoming releases. 

Laila O Laila

Much before the film is released in the theatres, a song from its album ‘Sukuti Sahu’ has already topped the music charts, having crossed over a million views on YouTube. After all the film makers are touting the film’s music to be a major USP for the movie with four out of the eight songs are romantic numbers. 

Produced by Sitaram Agrawal and Namita Agrawal under the banner of Sarthak Music Pvt. Ltd., ‘Laila O Laila’ is a musical love story that stars young actors Swaraj of ‘Tu Mo Love Story’ fame and Sunmeera who earlier worked in the film ‘Sapanara Pathe Pathe’. The film is directed by Susant Mani.With music being the highlight of the movie, the music album of the film comprises all the A-list singers of Ollywood like Human Sagar, Aseema Panda, R. S. Kumar, Sourin, Nibedita and Ananya. Baidyanath Dash has given the music of the film, while Nirmal Nayak and Arun Mantri have penned the lyrics.

The film will be released on 29th December.

Only Pyar

Ollywood’s most bankable star Babusan is back to woo his fans this new year with yet another love story ‘Only Pyar’. The film will see him paired with young actor Supriya Nayak, with whom he delivered the hit movie ‘Love Paen Kuch Bhi Karega’.

While the film is slated to release on 12 January, is an experimental love story by director director Tapas Sargharia and has been shot at beautiful locations in Coorg, Karataka. Photos from the shooting sets have already become viral on social media.

The movie is produced by Sunil Kumar Dashunder the new banner ‘Moon Shine Entertainment’. The songs have been choreographed by Girish Mohanty while the music has been given by Abhijit Majumdar. With the Babusan –Tapas – Majumdar combination had recently delivered a hit ‘Hero No.1’ on Dusherra, the audience’s expectations are running high with the upcoming new year release.

Happy Lucky

Gearing up to compete with the Babusan starrer flick is Tarang Cine Productions upcoming release ‘Happy Lucky’. Directed by Sudhanshu Sahu, the film is a multi-starrer featuring Sambeet opposite new comer Sasmita, and Jyoti paired with Elina. Sasmita is the winner of the reality show ‘Kie Heba Mo Heroine- Season 3’.

Interestingly, the film will also see actor Bobby Mishra, once considered the king of Odia album industry, making a comeback after a long gap. Mishra is playing the negative character in the film. The current favourite of the Odia music scene Prem Anand is the music director for the movie and the makers are confident that the music will be a hit with the Odia cine lovers. Well, with multi-starrer films doing good business in Ollywood lately, the production team is hoping to get a good response from the audience for this film. Also scheduled to release beside Babusan’s ‘Only Pyar’, on 12 January, the makers are hopeful that the film proves ‘lucky’ for them with the fresh pairing, the audience will get to see this new year.
