102 newly Recruited Civil Servants Attend Orientation Program

An Orientation Program for the newly recruited Civil Servants was held today at Jaydev Bhavan, Bhubaneswar where 102 newly recruited Officers under OCSE-2017 including 42 women, 13 SEBC, 21 SC & 22 St and four PwD candidates participated.

The newly recruited Officers shall be undergoing induction training in the respective Departmental Training Academy, that is, Gopabandhu academy of Administration and Madhusudan Das Regional Academy of Financial Management before appointment in vacant posts.

Recruitment of officers for the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS), Odisha Police Service (OPS), Odisha Finance Service (OFS), Odisha Cooperative Service (OCS, Odisha Revenue Service (ORS) and Odisha Treasury & Accounts Service (OT & AS) cadre is conducted through the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) under Government orders, on the requisition of the Departments administering the respective services. This is being regularly done each year since 2015 without deviation.

Ankita Barik, Rank 63, who qualified ORS said, “The preparation was a little tough, because this was my third attempt.  I had appeared in 2015 and 2016 as well but didn’t qualify. I’m happy to have qualified for it after 3 years of preparation.”

Amruta Sagar Bhoi, Rank 59, who qualified OT & AS said, “I am very happy and yes, a lot of hard work is behind this. I have prepared for this for about one and a half years.”

Recruitment under Odisha Civil Services Examination (OCSE), 2017 was taken up through OPSC’s advertisement on November 27, 2017 for 106 vacancies, including vacancies of 36 posts in OAS, 09 posts in OPS, 24 in OFS, 03 posts in OCS, 20 posts in ORS and 14 posts in OT & AS. While the Preliminary examination was held on February 18, 2018, the main written examination was conducted from June 25 to July 18, 2018. A Personality Test was conducted from December 1-10, 2018 and the results of 106 successful candidates was made over by the OPSC to the GA & PG Department.

After obtaining Government Orders, the medical examination of the candidates was conducted on February 25, 2019 through a special Medical Board duly constituted by the Health & FW Department which included two co-opted Members from the BPSPA (Home Department). A total of 102 candidates were finally selected for appointment.
