After a Long Wait, 'Mind Game' Finally Hits the Big Screen!

The sensational Patnagarh wedding gift blast incident which sent shockwaves across the country is being retold on silver screen from today through the film ‘Mind Game’. The film has been released all over Odisha in about 41 Cinema halls.

Renamed from ‘Patnagarh’ the film has waited 5 long years to hit the silver screen. This is probably the first Odia feature film Inspired from a real and tragic incident. The first odia film which has brought so many artists from different regional industries (Telugu, Marathi, Haryanvi and of course Odisha) together.

Both Manoj Mishra and Atul Kulkarni’s work is commendable. They are truly natural actors who have portrayed their character with exceptional skill and conviction, and that is what added depth to the film. The scenes between Manoj and Atul Kulkarni were like a treat to watch. Both of them shared fantastic on-screen chemistry. Directed by National Award Winner Rajesh Touchriver and produced by Sridhar Martha, the cast of the film includes other renowned actors like Pushpa Panda, Tanikella Bharani, Yashpal Sharma, Anu Choudhury, Chinmay Mishra and Apsara Rani.

Manoj's transformation for his character was incredible. He completely immersed himself in the role, making it difficult to recognize him as the actor we know. Atul's meticulous portrayal of IPS Arun Bothra's character, right down to the twisting of his moustache, was remarkable.

The cinematography of the film was top-notch, capturing the essence of the story beautifully. The visuals added to the overall appeal of the film. The entire cast in the police roles delivered commendable performances, adding authenticity to the crime investigation theme of the movie.

However, we must admit that the direction of the film could have been stronger. While the second half of the film was more engaging and well-paced, the first half had some loose ends and struggled to maintain the audience's attention. A smoother and more seamless flow could have improved the overall viewing experience.

The production and art direction were commendable, creating a realistic backdrop for the narrative.

‘Mind Game’ stands out as a significant achievement in the Odia film industry, especially in the genre of investigations and crime cases. It sets a high standard, and it will undoubtedly pose a challenge to others working on similar projects in the future in the state. The film's intriguing investigation plotline is bound to draw audiences to theatres, and it's a positive sign of revival for the Odia film industry.

We at My City Links appreciate the entire team of ‘Mind Game’ for their courage to take such a challenging subject to make a film. We wish them all the best.
