Babushan To Turn Surdas this Dussehra

Actor Babushan Mohanty is all set to entertain audiences this Dussehra with a power-packed performance! Ollywood’s ‘Romeo’ will be seen playing the character of a visually impaired singer for the first time with his upcoming film ‘Shreeman Surdas’ where he will be seen opposite co-actor, expression queen Bhoomika Das who was also  paired against Babushan in the super hit film ‘Hero No 1’ last Dussehra under the same banner. Moreover, Buddhaditya Mohanty is all set to surprise the audiences with an interesting character in the film.  ‘Shreeman Surdas’, a film by Tarang Cine Productions, will also see director Ashok Pati, lyricist Nirmal Nayak and music director Abhijeet Majumdar teaming up, repeating their successful collaborations in the past.

In a chat with MCL, director Ashok Pati revealed, “For the first time ever, the audiences will get to see Babushan playing such a role. The film is a commercial, but the character has been inspired from the famous 16^th century visually impaired singer and poet Surdas.”

On the decision to cast Bhoomika, Pati informed, “Good dancing skills are a prerequisite for the heroine’s character in this film and that was one of the reasons we decided to go ahead with Bhoomika as she is a great dancer. Besides, she and Babushan make a successful pair and their ‘jodi’ has been appreciated by audiences.”

Apart from Babushan’s comic timing, the film also has elements of thriller in it. Around ten days of shoot has already been completed. ‘Shreeman Surdas’ also stars Mihir Das, Aparajita Mohanty, Ashrumochan, Salil Mitra, Bobby Mishra and Tribhubana Panda.

After ‘Loafer’, this is the second time that Buddhaditya is working with his cousin brother Babushan and director Ashok together. Ashok and Buddhaditya have also worked together in ‘Nandini I Love You’ and ‘Prem Rogi’, both of which were hits. “In the title track of this film, Babushan and I will be seen dancing together. The character I am playing in this film is named as Bhairav, and all the twist and turns come through my character in this movie. This movie has everything to entertain people so I would say this is like a ‘Dusehra Pulao’ for the audiences”, said Buddhaditya talking to My City Links

‘Shreeman Surdas’ is not going to be the solo release this Dussehra. Anubhav Mohanty’s ‘Prem Kumar’ will another film that Odia cine lovers can look forward to during Durga Puja. The film was slated for a Raja release, but got delayed because of Anubhav’s accident.
