Biker And Vlogger Bulu Pattnaik Who Documents His Trips Is A Must Follow
Riding through the valleys of the Western Ghats along the Western Coast and negotiating the twisting and narrowing roads on the way to the Himalayas; Bulu Pattnaik gets to experience this at least a dozen times in a year! Bulu Biker, as he is fondly called, is an ardent bike enthusiast and has been a rider for the last 15 years. That’s not all! He has been taking a whopping 71k+ followers along with him on his journeys since January, 2017.On what motivated him to document his travel, he says, “I cover about 35,000 to 40,000 kms on my motorcycle every year. Before 2017, I used to create videos, but never got the idea to upload them on YouTube. Since YouTube started trending in India around 2016-2017, I got inspired from a couple of other travel channels and thought of uploading my journey videos online.”
Not many know that he has had a relationship with online portals and blogs for long. Talking about his earlier ventures, Bulu, who belongs to the city of Lord Jagannath, informs, “Before making YouTube my preferred platform, I have been into web portals like Full Odisha and Puri Online and they too were very popular.”Recently, he went international and is now geared up for some more excitement in future. Talking about his trips, he says, “I have been to Nepal, Bhutan, and most of the places around South India on my motorcycle apart from almost seven trips to Leh Ladakh. So, I keep sharing all these experiences through my videos; what to do and what not to do on your motorcycle trips. I am also known for spreading ‘Safe Ride’ on roads.”
As beautiful as the videos look, it is equally difficult and at times even dangerous to shoot these videos while riding. On the pros and cons of being a travel vlogger, he says, “The biggest challenge that I feel as a moto vlogger is creating content while travelling. Since I am a biker by heart first and then a video creator, most of the time I don’t feel like recording videos when I am enjoying the ride, but when I am back home I realise I have missed so much of content,”he chuckles. However hard work always pays off, in one way or the other. The reward for Bulu being his amazing 71k+ subcribers, as he says, “After I began my channel, I am never alone on roads. The moment I announce a trip, my subscribers are excited and a lot of bikers from across India also keep waiting for me at toll gates on my route. That is something which definitely makes it all worth it and keeps me going.”
So, how does one get started? Co-relating with his own story, Bulu says, “Earlier I could rarely say two words in front of a camera. It was so embarrassing for me, but that stage fear and camera-consciousness is now gone. All this was possible because I played myself. I would request the new creators to just be themselves and find whatever makes them happy. After all a happy and confident creator begets entertained audiences.”
