Chittaranjan Tripathy Impresses as Bechan in ‘Raktanchal’
Be it as ‘Trivedi’ from the popular series ‘Sacred Games’ or as senior CID officer ‘Gupta’ in the film ‘Made in China’ or as the villain of the film ‘Biju Babu’, Odia actor Chittaranjan Tripathy has proved his acting mettle time and again. And, now the versatile actor is giving his fans a reason to cheer with his new character ‘Bechan Singh’ from the recently released MX player Original series ‘Raktanchal’.
Tripathy is playing the role of the uncle of the protagonist ‘Vijay Singh’ in the series, which is being portrayed by Kranti Prakash Jha.
When asked how different this character is from the one he played in ‘Sacred Games’, Tripathy told MCL, “Every character has its own challenges and that is the charm of this job. Although both characters have a criminal background, the one I played in ‘Sacred Games’ was mysterious. But this time I have got the opportunity to participate in the action, firing guns, running behind opposition guys and a lot more. So, I have enjoyed doing a lot of action this time. At the same time, the character is calm and is also very motivating. He is the one who controls the lead character of Vijay Singh, who is the son of his elder brother.
Raktanchal is a crime drama inspired by real-life events from the '80s of Purvanchal, Uttar Pradesh, at a time when the state development work was distributed through tenders. The criminal empire of Waseem Khan, the tender mafia is challenged by a young criminal Vijay Singh who is driven by vengeance. While Waseem Khan is a pure criminal, Vijay is a good man, who in spite of turning into an anti-hero serves people as much as he can. The story sets in motion, a clash for acquiring tenders with a political battle in the background, which unleashes a bloodbath in the city of Purvanchal. Vijay must overcome great personal odds to beat Waseem Khan and become the tender king.
Directed by Ritam Srivastav, the series also has actors like Nikitin Dheer, Soundarya Sharma, Ronjini Chakraborty, Pramod Pathak, Vikram Kochhar, Krishna Bisht, Basu Soni and Rajesh Dubey in other major characters. You can enjoy watching its first season, which is available free on MX Player. The second season shooting has been re-scheduled due to lockdown.
