CM Majhi Unveils ₹275 Cr Projects, Announces Medical College, University for Bhadrak

Speaking at a public meeting on Monday, Chief Minister Mohan Majhi announced that the long-standing demand for a medical college and a public university in Bhadrak will soon be fulfilled. During the launch of 13 development projects worth approximately ₹275 crore for the district, Majhi said that the foundation stone for the proposed medical college and hospital will be laid shortly.

He highlighted that the state government has already approved several major projects for Bhadrak, including a technical textile complex by Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) with an investment of ₹4,377 crore, and a high-modulus low-shrinkage (HMLS) polyester yarn manufacturing unit by MCPI Private Limited, involving an investment of ₹2,223.25 crore. These two industrial projects are expected to generate around 4,300 and 1,150 jobs, respectively, significantly boosting employment in the region.

He also announced that all martyrs’ sites in the district will be identified and developed as part of a comprehensive beautification plan. “The BJP government is fully committed to delivering on the promises made to the people,” he said. “From the very first day in office, we haven’t wasted a single moment. Every step we take is focused on serving the people with dedication and purpose.” Highlighting the achievements over the past year, Majhi said his government will present an account of its accomplishments to the people on June 12.

Highlighting the government’s focus on livelihoods and economic empowerment, Majhi said that multiple initiatives are underway to improve the financial well-being of citizens, particularly through agricultural advancement, promotion of agro-based industries, and overall industrial expansion.

He pointed out that in just 120 days, the government has cleared industrial projects worth over ₹80,000 crore. Additionally, on May 22 alone, approvals were granted for 10 major projects with a combined investment of ₹1.65 lakh crore — a reflection of the government’s accelerated push for economic growth.

Reaffirming his commitment to Bhadrak’s development, the Chief Minister said the district is being positioned as a model of progress within the state. Ongoing and upcoming projects include a new district hospital, improved road infrastructure, upgraded sports facilities, community health centres, libraries, and a memorial park dedicated to Dr. Harekrushna Mahtab. He assured the public that all announced projects will be completed within the stipulated timelines.

Speaking at the event, Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj commended the Chief Minister for his proactive leadership and dedication to fulfilling the promises made to the people of Bhadrak. The event was also attended by Bhadrak MP Abhimanyu Sethi, MLAs Sitansu Sekhar Mohapatra (Bhadrak), Ashok Das (Basudevpur), Padmalochan Panda (Simulia), and former minister Manmohan Samal.
