My City Links recently had the opportunity to sit down with Nikita and learn more about the driving force behind her literary achievements. Below are the excerpts.

Q- Tell us something about your family and your childhood?

A- I was born in Kharagpur, but for some reason, my parents suddenly moved to Odisha when I was just 4 years old. As a kid, my capacity to adopt the Odia language was remarkable, and I started talking in Odia as my mother instructed. Impressed with my progress, my parents decided to place me in a class higher than my age, and I continued to excel in my studies, making me the pride of my parents. Our family consists of four members - my parents, me, and my brother. During those days, my father's business was doing well. Overall, my childhood was filled with happy moments spent with my family.

Q- How did you start writing books and how many years did it take you to establish yourself as an author?

A- Actually, I had no such aim to be an author. Yes, I was a good student throughout my academic career, but I had no idea how to be a good author. After college, I was very much interested in becoming an engineer. However, I could not enroll myself due to financial problems. Consequently, I pursued my bachelor's degree in the commerce stream. But that incident triggered me to do something on my own. I began writing books and test questions to express my knowledge. In 2018, a publication house proposed that I write some books for them, and they encouraged me to do so. This is how I started writing. Though I am still putting in efforts to establish myself in this sector, I have managed to carve out a small place among the young writers in this field.

Q- What are some challenges you faced during the initial days as a writer?

A- During the initial days, I had to face many issues. At that time, I had no basic ideas about this sector, so I was misguided by many people. Some even cheated me in various ways, like not informing me about how my books were accepted or keeping me unaware of the number of books sold. After publishing the book, they used to withhold my payments and ignore my calls. These activities left me quite disappointed, and at times, I even contemplated giving up writing. However, the sense of work satisfaction and my passion for writing kept me going and prevented me from quitting.

Q- What are the achievements you hold for your books so far?

A- The first achievement was that I received the Best Educator Award from Mayas Publication, Kanchipuram, for being the best educator. The recent achievement is that I was selected as the question maker for a leading educational website, becoming the first person from the state to hold this position. In between, I have received many more awards and appreciations at various forums.

Q- What is the main mantra of your success?

A- For me, the success mantra is determination and hard work. Hard work makes the path to success easier, and determination provides strength and patience to reach the goal. It also gives the strength to face hurdles during the journey. And one more thing I must say, everyone should take a break, because like hard work, vacation and space is necessary in everyone's life. It actually fuels positivity and helps us stay focused.

Q- Since most of your books are sought after by aspirants to crack competitive exams, what suggestions would you give to these candidates to achieve success in their examinations?

A- It has been said that "Practice makes man perfect." Actually, not only for competitive examinations but also for every examination, I must say every student should keep practicing. Whether it be math or any subject, practice can make everything easier and make the student more confident about the subject, which can lead them closer to success.
