e-Abhijoga: Odisha Goes Online To Redress Public Grievances

The Odisha government has launched an online portal called ‘e-Abhijoga’ for redressal of public grievances in wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Through the e-Abhijoga platform, people can directly register their grievances with the offices of the Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, District Collectors, Director-General of Police and Revenue Divisional Commissioners,” General Administration and Public Grievances Secretary Sanjiv Chopra said.

“The phone numbers of the officials will be made available and people will be requested to provide their contact details while lodging complaints. The authorities will then be able to send the action taken report to the complainants,” he added.

He also informed that COVID-specific grievance cells would be formed under the chairmanship of the respective District Collectors to address complaints on a daily basis.

“We will focus on e-Abhijoga platform in view of the prevailing situation,” Odisha Chief Secretary Asit Kumar Tripathy said after a review meeting of the preparedness of government departments for the purpose on Sunday. 

“All the official departments have been instructed to popularise the online platform and prioritise the disposal of grievances through the digital mode,” he said.

Jnanabrata Mohapatra, a Bhubaneswar-based government employee, welcomed the initiative for digital redressal of public grievances. “This pandemic has brought so many reforms in the system that should have happened years ago. Since digital has become the most powerful mode of communication, we should get going with it. Hopefully, the grievances will be properly looked into and redressed. But the major question is about its proper maintenance in the long run and not only for the time until coronavirus gets eradicated.”
