East Coast Railway Launches AI-Powered Robotic Security Platform ‘DSC ARJUN’

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has launched DSC ARJUN, an AI-powered robotic security platform, to enhance railway security, improve passenger safety and strengthen the capabilities of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) through advanced surveillance technology.

The platform, officially named Dedicated Security Chassis Advanced Railway Junction Under Network Enabled Surveillance (DSC ARJUN), was unveiled in the presence of the General Manager of East Coast Railway, senior railway officials and RPF personnel.

According to ECoR, the new system integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI), Computer Vision, Machine Learning and the Internet of Things (IoT) to provide intelligent, real-time surveillance and monitoring at railway stations.

Key Features of DSC ARJUN:

• Real-time crowd analytics
• Passenger head counting
• Unattended baggage detection
• Suspicious activity detection
• Live video streaming
• Public address announcements
• Instant alert generation

The robotic platform can be deployed across platforms, concourses, booking offices, waiting halls, parking areas, parcel offices and other sensitive locations. It is designed to monitor passenger movement, prevent crime, safeguard railway assets and assist during emergencies such as fires, medical incidents and security threats.
 

ECoR said the initiative marks the next phase of technology-driven railway policing. It follows earlier innovations, including Captain ARJUN, introduced by Central Railway in 2020, and ASC ARJUN, deployed at Visakhapatnam Railway Station in January 2026.

Railway officials said DSC ARJUN will serve as a force multiplier for the RPF by enabling proactive security management, faster decision-making and enhanced situational awareness, while contributing to a safer, smarter and more passenger-friendly railway network.
