First Covid-19 Case Detected in Bhubaneswar; Man Quarantined After Returning from Delhi

A fresh case of Covid-19 has been reported in Bhubaneswar, raising concerns among residents. The infected person had recently returned from New Delhi and has been placed under quarantine. Reports confirm he also has comorbid conditions, making his case more sensitive. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether he is in home or institutional quarantine.

Meanwhile, two recent Covid-related deaths have been reported at King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital — a 14-year-old suffering from nephrotic syndrome-induced kidney failure and a 54-year-old cancer patient. Both had serious pre-existing health conditions.

Amid rising Covid-19 cases in Singapore and Hong Kong, India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) held a review meeting with experts from NCDC, EMR, ICMR, Disaster Management Cell, and top government hospitals to assess the preparedness.
