Here’s All About The Summer Special Food Of Your Fav Celebs

The days of scorching heat and terrible humidity are here and all of us are trying varied means to get some respite from it. Changing food habits and finding out what is right for your stomach and mood in this season is important to maintain your health. The struggle for finding the right food is the same for everybody, including your favourite Ollywood stars. Read on how they are battling the belly blues this summer!

Babushan Mohanty

Ollywood Romeo Babushan likes to have orange juice, oats, eggs and a banana smoothie for breakfast while, for meals, he eats rice with some veggies and chicken or any protein for lunch. For dinner, he likes to eat chapatti, dal and fish or any lean protein. He says, “Pakhala is a must at least once a week for me. I eat lots of seasonal fruits in summer days and also drink lots of regular and coconut water.”

Manoj Mishra

This Ollywood bad boy loves to eat oats for breakfast all through the year. He is choosy about his favourite summer coolers though. “I don’t prefer soft drinks. I like to drink Lemon Sherbet. For lunch, Pakhala with Badi Bhaja and Chota Macha Bhaja (deep fried tiny fishes) is my favourite meal in summers. And whenever I am free at home, I make and eat Jhal Mudhi for summer evenings,” he says.

Prakruti Mishra

Her favourite summer dishes are ‘Chunkadia Pakhala’ with deep fried fish, Bhendi (Ladies finger) Poda and Alu Bharata. “I have no fixed diet plan; I eat a lot and exercise a lot too. In summers, our bodies shrink naturally. Hence, one should eat according to the demands of one’s body. I think people enjoy eating Pakhala the most. And ‘Dahi Chanch’ is my all time favourite summer drink.”

Pragyan Ranjan Khatua

One of the finest comedians of the industry, Pragyan enjoys Pakhala, regardless of the season, with Alu Bharata sliced with 4-5 onions. From curd-flavoured and amba nasi (mango sap) flavoured to lemon flavoured Pakhala, his palate loves it all. He says, “I am a vegetarian, so I prefer Alu Bhaja, deep fried ladies fingers, Badi Chura and Sajana Saga with Pakhala. I like natural products. Lemon Sherbet is my favourite drink for summers.”

Kuna Tripathy

Veteran actor and OFDC Chairman Kuna Tripathy is fond of typical Odia cuisine. He likes to have Roti with Dalma or Santulafor breakfast, a fixed menu for him bereft of the seasons. His favourite meal in summer includes Rice, Dal, Alu-Badi-Drumstick-Mustard curry. He says, “I do not prefer non-vegetarian foodmuch. When I eat Pakhala, I like to eat it with some curd and Brinjal Chokha (grated with some onions and mustard oil), Saga Kharada with Badi. If I get Drumsticks, I love to have it deep fried with a coating of Besan, which makes it a little crispy.Dahi (curd) is an all time favourite of mine. I always eat Dahi with my meals. In summers, I love to drink Dahi Sherbet with Jaljeera”.

Sambeet Acharya

One of the coolest actors from the industry, Sambeet loves to havesoft drinks, energy drinks and ice creams the most in summers. When asked about his all day diet during this season, he says, “I prefer light food in the day, like fruits, and rice with some gravy for dinner.”

Avisekh Rath

Young and dynamic actor Avisekh prefers less oily food for summer days. He likes to eat fruits like watermelon, mango and savour cool drinks, shakes and smoothies. He says, “Being ‘desi’ by heart, I also prefer Pakhalawith deep fried small Eel fish, Badi Chura and Saga Bhaja during summer days.”

Bhoomika Dash

The actress likes Pakhala but has to restrict it because of her strict diet plan. Her cheat day involves eating Pakhala with Tomato Chokha, Badi Chura, Alu Bharta and deep fried Brinjal. She says, “We are apartment-dwellers, so sometimes all the neighbours and us plan and prepare different types of side items and eat those withPakhala together. My mom makes lassi, banana shakes and cold coffee at home and I love drinking those in summer,” she adds.

Swaraj Barik

Swaraj is an all-time ‘Basi Pakhala’ (one day old Pakhala) fan. He loves to have it every season. He says, “No matter what the side dishes are, I like Pakhala with a little sour Torani (the water in Pakhala)”. His favourite side dishes to go with Pakhala are Badi Chura along with deep masala fried fish.  He is a regular juice drinker and prefers Dahi Sherbet in summers.

Sunmeera Nagesh

State award winner Sunmeera loves to eat seasonal fruits like watermelon and mango during the hot days. For meals, she prefers Dahi Bhata (Rice with Curd) with Badi and Alu Bharta. She says, “I like rice more than roti in summer.But it’s not good to eat rice a lot, so I eat roti instead as an alternative. I like all types of juices and lassi during summers.”
