Hot and Humid Weather Returns as Monsoon Stalls in Odisha
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a spike in hot and humid conditions across Odisha over the next four days, with monsoon advancement currently stalled. Coastal and interior districts like Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Khurda, Puri, Ganjam, and others will bear the brunt.
On Monday, Balasore recorded the highest temperature at 39.8°C, followed closely by Bhubaneswar at 39.6°C. High humidity levels made the weather more unbearable — Gopalpur reported 80% humidity, followed by Puri and Paradip at 77%.
IMD Bhubaneswar Director Manorama Mohanty stated that weather conditions are currently not favourable for monsoon advancement. Daytime temperatures are expected to rise by 2°C to 3°C in the next few days. Experts say monsoon activity may resume once a new weather system forms.
