How Bhubaneswar Youth Fell In Love With This Open Mic Session!

The trend of open mics has picked up fast in Bhubaneswar and it seems to have caught the fancy of youngsters. So,when a group of writer enthusiasts decided to celebrate spoken word, poetry and stories in an exclusive open-mic event held at Kabad Khana in DLF Cyber City on Tuesday, the young brigade was more than happy and enthusiastic to participate.

‘Afsaana’ was organised by ‘Poetic Imagica’ in association with ‘The Poet’s Weed’. As the name suggests, it was an amalgamation of tales; a celebration of poetry, spoken word, and of course, stories! The event was a small yet, firm and definite step towards nurturing story-tellers, and letting them create their own literature, slowly letting them out into the world.

Flooded with words, bridges of phrases were constructed and the open mic session witnessed participants of various age groups showing their creativity amidst a medley of extraordinary enthusiasts. Writers,stand-up comedians, story tellers and other speakers – all were present inlarge numbersto grace the event.Sreetam Swain, founder of Poetic Imagica, Animesh Mishra, founder of The Poet’s Weed and the organising team members (Yannam, Deepak, Manmath, Barshana, Bikash, Tanmay, Rohith) conducted the successful event.Standup comedians Jyotiranjan Dash and Agnivesh Mohapatra were the guests of honour for the event.

This event serves as a stepping stone; the long-term aim of Poetic Imagica is to provide a platform which would help people to showcase their talent and also serve as an attempt to bring out the young budding performers to the spotlight. They have plans to organise many such events in the future.
