IG Drones Secures Patent for India’s First Made-in-India Defence Drone Simulator

IG Drones Secures Patent for India’s First Made-in-India Defence Drone Simulator

In a powerful assertion of India’s rising defence capabilities and technological independence, IG Drones has been granted the patent for the country’s first indigenously developed defence drone simulator. Originally unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during Defence Expo 2022, this simulator now stands as a testament to India’s homegrown innovation and commitment to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission.

No longer dependent on imported systems, India now stands equipped with a state-of-the-art simulator built entirely on its own soil, by its own minds, for its own forces. Entirely designed, developed, and manufactured in India, this next-generation simulator provides hyper-realistic, high-fidelity training for the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and paramilitary forces. It enables personnel to master complex combat drone operations in simulated high-risk environments, including GPS-denied zones, swarm scenarios, and multi-drone missions, without relying on foreign systems.

Powered by advanced AI, physics-based engines, and real-time terrain dynamics, the simulator delivers a cutting-edge training experience that is both secure and cost-effective. With this breakthrough, IG Drones not only eliminates the need for imported platforms but also ushers in a new era of Indian defence capability.

“This patent is more than a technological milestone—it is a declaration of India’s resurgence as a global innovator,” said Bodhisattwa Sanghapriya, Founder and CEO of IG Drones. “Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Modi, we’re not just building systems, we are building the future of Bharat’s defence. This Made-in-India simulator is a tribute to our soldiers, scientists, and the spirit of self-reliance.”

With this achievement, IG Drones became the first Indian company to receive intellectual property rights for a defence drone simulator, a domain long dominated by foreign players. The patent marks a pivotal step forward in India’s defence tech landscape and strengthens the nation’s resolve to lead in indigenous innovation, aligned with the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision.

Already a key partner to the Indian Armed Forces, IG Drones has proven its mettle during critical operations such as Operation Sindoor, where it deployed indigenously built VTOL, FPV, and kamikaze drones for strategic surveillance, mapping, and precision strikes. These contributions have cemented its reputation as a trailblazer in Bharatiya defence technology.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal hailed the patent of India’s first ‘Made-in-India’ defence drone simulator, calling it a major milestone in the nation's push for self-reliance. In a post on X, he noted that the innovation will replace reliance on imported systems and provide advanced, cost-effective training to the armed forces, marking another big stride towards Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

At a time when the world watches India's ascent on the global stage, this patent is not merely a technological victory, it is a resounding affirmation of Indian intellect, industry, and intent. With this, IG Drones not only sets a benchmark for innovation but also strengthens the foundation of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and reaffirms the country’s growing stature as a global defence technology leader.
