Jitendra Mishra’s “The Last Color” Screened At UN Headquarters
After sprinter Dutee Chand bagged the gold medal at World University Games bringing laurels to Odisha, Odia filmmaker Jitendra Mishra’s latest feature film “The Last Color”, written and directed by Indian celebrity chef Vikas Khanna, was screened at United Nations Headquarters on Friday.
The film is an adaptation of the book of the same name authored by Khanna during the early years of his career. Moreover, this film is one of the rarest Indian films to be screened at this prestigious platform. It has already been premiered at the 30th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival in 2019 and had a special screening at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.
The eighty-six minutes film revolves around the Supreme Court ordinance against the age-old tradition of not allowing widows to play Holi in Vrindavan. The film stars veteran actor Neena Gupta and child artist Aqsa Siddique and has been produced by Bindu Khanna, Poonam Kaul and Jitendra Mishra under the banner of House of Omkar.
Aiming to raise awareness to end all forms of discriminations and injustices against women and girls everywhere and to achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls under the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations, SPICE-Indian Club hosted the screening of “The Last Color” along with “Meet The Makers” at UN headquarters, New York.
Hailing from Titlagarh, Odisha, the multiple award winning producer Jitendra says, “My cinematic life has seen its biggest day today. Not only for me, but for the entire fraternity of “The Last Color”, for my state Odisha and my country India it’s a proud moment. Cinema is one of the finest ways to represent thoughts and that’s what our vision through this film speaks.”
Jitendra Mishra has received numerous awards as a film producer and promoter. He has already been associated with more than 110 films in all categories and capacities. He also has been invited to many film festivals as an eminent jury and is currently on the board of directors for world’s biggest and oldest children media network CIFEJ and a member of Cannes Producers Network. He is also the festival director of the unique film festival SIFFCY which he has conceived and designed for Smile Foundation.
