KIIT-KISS University Joins Hands with IRFU to Boost Rugby in India

In a historic move, KIIT-KISS Deemed University has partnered with the Indian Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to promote rugby in India at both grassroots and high-performance levels. The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on Monday by Achyuta Samanta, founder of KIIT-KISS and Rahul Bose, president of IRFU.

Under the agreement, KIIT-KISS will serve as the associate sponsor of Rugby India for the next three years, making it the only university in India to hold this distinction. The state government remains the main sponsor of Rugby India.

The MoU involves KIIT-KISS making its facilities available for conducting camps and competitions, as well as the preparation and training of teams for international tournaments and ‘test’ matches. The partnership was witnessed by three coaches and selectors of the Indian National Rugby 15s teams, including Naas Botha, Kiano Fourie, and Andre Venter.

KIIT-KISS has been actively promoting rugby since 2004, with Samanta playing a crucial role in its development. This latest partnership with IRFU marks a new chapter in the university’s commitment to promoting the sport in India.
