Know The Story Behind Anubhav Sinha Speaking Odia For Anek
Director, producer and writer Anubhav Sinha is well-known for his films like Ra.One, Mulk, Article 15 and Thappad. To promote his upcoming action thriller film titled ‘Anek’, his PR team has started a campaign named #JeetegaKaunHindustan. This video campaign includes popular faces from across the country saying the words “Jeetega Kaun Hindustan” in their native language. But Odias are not happy with it seeing that there is no one from Odisha in the video representing the Odia language.

Like many of us, it also dissatisfied Jitendriya Pradhan, who is a life member of the Screenwriters Association of India. As he had worked with Sinha earlier, he tried to connect with him and resolve this issue as soon as possible.
Jitendriya, who has worked on multiple Odia projects including Club 69, Anthony, Eda Obstinate, Daalchinee, Hubris, etc., said to My City Links, “I discussed the blunder with Anubhav sir. Being humble, he immediately apologized for the mistake of his PR team. He assured me to look into the matter and to do the needful. On Tuesday, the corrected promo was uploaded on YouTube. He himself has represented Odia language in the new video. So I am very touched with his gesture.”

Written and directed by Anubhav Sinha, who has also co-produced it with T-Series, the movie ‘Anek’ portrays the journey of an undercover cop on a mission to find peace. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana as the main lead alongside J.D. Chakravarthy, Andrea Kevichüsa, Manoj Pahwa and Kumud Mishra. The film has been scheduled to release worldwide in cinemas on 27 May 2022.

The campaign video also includes other celebrities like Bhumi Pednekar (Konkani), Mary Kom (Manipuri), Huma Qureshi (Urdu), Kunal Khemu (Kashmiri), Vishal Dadlani (Sindhi), Pratik Gandhi (Gujarati), Manoj Bajpai (Maithili), R Madhavan (Tamil), Rashmika Mandanna (Telugu), Remo D’souza (Malayalam) and Ayushman Khurrana (Sanskrit).
While there are a number of Odia people working in different departments of the Mumbai film industry, it was surprising to see that there was no representation of Odia in the video.
