‘Maatritava’ – Capital City to Witness a Special Mother-Daughter Pageant

For the first time, the city will play host to a pageant which will celebrate the unique bond between mothers and daughters. ‘Maatritva’ to be held on August 11, will see moms sashaying the ramp along with their daughters, even as they participate in various other rounds that will showcase the connection, understanding and coordination between them.

“This will be the first of its kind event where mothers and daughters will participate together. There will be various rounds and activities, on whose basis, the mother-daughter pairs will be judged,” shared Sweta Parekh, fashion designer and a member of the organising committee.

“The pageant is being organised to celebrate and cherish the relationship between mothers and daughters. It will be a national level event with 15 participants from Odisha. There will be audition rounds in Kolkata and Delhi as well,” she added.According to the organising committee, Bollywood actress Dia Mirza will be the chief guest of the main event and felicitate the winners.

Renowned actress Sushma Seth and her daughter Divya Saha will be the members of the jury committee who will select the winners. Transgender activist Laxmi Narayan Tripathy and Gauri Sawant will be seen in a guest appearance.

The winners will be felicitated with cash prize and memento. While the winner will receive Rs 3 lakh, the first runner up will be awarded Rs 1 lakh, and the second runner up Rs 50,000.

The auditions for the pageant will take place in Delhi, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar on 15th July. “The competition is open for all age groups. If a mother-daughter pair share a good bonding and have perfect coordination, they can definitely participate in the event,” shared Sweta.
