Mahaprasad Will Not Be Sold Online: Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan

Odisha Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan on Monday confirmed that the State Government and Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) have unanimously decided against the online sale of Mahaprasad.

Addressing the media, Harichandan emphasised that the sanctity and spiritual value of Lord Jagannath’s Mahaprasad are unparalleled and cannot be treated like ordinary food products. He revealed that some organisations had recently proposed selling dried bhog and Mahaprasad online to reach devotees worldwide, but the idea was categorically rejected over concerns that it could compromise purity.

He appealed to devotees to visit Puri and receive Mahaprasad in person, urging other temple administrations to also avoid any move towards online sales. “Neither do we have any such proposal, nor will we allow anyone to sell Mahaprasad online,” he asserted.

The Minister further informed that a revised rate chart for Abhada will be implemented soon, following a recent review meeting. This statement comes in the wake of media reports alleging unauthorised online sales of the sacred Abadha Mahaprasad of Lord Jagannath.
