OBCC Invites DPR Tenders for Four-Lane Greenfield Highway Linking Pipili and Konark

The Odisha Bridge & Construction Corporation (OBCC) has floated tenders for preparing the Detailed Project Report (DPR) of a proposed greenfield four-lane road connecting Pipili to Konark, marking a major boost to coastal connectivity. The access-controlled highway aims to cut travel time between Pipili and Konark from about 90 minutes to nearly 30 minutes, offering safer, faster and smoother travel.

Designed to strengthen tourism infrastructure, the corridor will improve access to the Sun Temple at Konark, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, while enhancing connectivity between Bhubaneswar, Puri and nearby coastal regions. The project is also expected to ease traffic on existing routes, support local economies and improve last-mile access for surrounding villages.

The DPR will examine route alignment, land acquisition needs, environmental impact, cost estimates and implementation timelines, setting the foundation for one of Odisha’s key coastal road initiatives.
