Odia Actress Sambhabana Mohanty To Play The Lead In Hindi TV Show ‘Raja Beta’
After Prakruti Mishra’s stint on national television, Ollywood is gearing to witness another actress on TV screens across the country. Ollywood actress Sambhabana Mohanty will soon be seen as the main lead in a popular Hindi entertainment channels upcoming show ‘Raja Beta’.
Sambhabana has been cast opposite Rrahul Sudhir who began his acting career with web-series. Rrahul is playing a character called Vedant alongside Sambhabna who will be playing the role of Poorva Mishra. ‘Raja Beta’ is based on the life of an adopted child and his journey in understanding the importance of familial relations. The plot of the show caters to different relationships in a family. The show is going to be telecasted from 15th January everyday at 6:30 PM from Monday to Friday. When asked about her character, Sambhabana said, “Our characters are polar opposite to each other. Vedant is sorted, smart, sophisticated and less talkative while Poorva is logical yet loud, childish and bubbly. At the end of the day it has been fun working. The entire unit is working really very hard to make the show better. Sometimes it is hectic but we love our work.”
When asked about the working style in different mediums, Rrahul said, “Television and digital platforms are two different mediums of entertainment. When we are working in web series, we have only 12-13 episodes but TV shows are really very long. So obviously the style of working is different in these two types of entertainment medium.”
Sambhabana is the daughter of famous Album director Jaya Prakash Mohanty and veteran actress Snigdha Mohanty. She debuted in Ollywood with the film ‘Mun Raja Tu Rani’ opposite Arindam Roy in the year 2013. The Odia music video ‘Saajna’, in which she was cast opposite Sambeet Acharya became a hit. She was to be seen opposite Sambeet in the film ‘Biswanath’, but unfortunately the film has not released yet.
A hopeful and happy mother, Singdha said, “She was a very good student and wished to become a lecturer from her childhood. But after she completed her M.Phil, she told me that she wants to try her luck in Mumbai once. I had never thought she will get a chance in the industry within 3-4 months, but I hope she will do well. She is a very hard working girl and has struggled a lot, because there is a huge competition in Mumbai. In hot summer days too she used to give 4-5 auditions per day roaming around the city, even by auto-rickshaws and local trains. Although I was helping her financially, she wished to save her mother’s money as much as possible (chuckles). I don’t know why but she has not received any good offer in Odisha. She might not have taken outside projects had she received good offers here. But now people are calling me up and saying that they have already planned some projects for her. May be being the daughter of an actress became a minus point for her here. I am happy that she has that potential in her to work in Mumbai. What she has achieved so far there is completely by her own efforts.”
