Odia Big Budget Musical Short Film ‘Jaaniya’ Released

This new year seems to be full of surprises for Odia entertainment lovers as new projects are coming up every other day. Joining the list of new age Odia entertainment videos, musical short film ‘Jaaniya’ released and the announcement of this film was held at a city hotel at the capital city this Sunday evening. The film is full of love, drama, romance, action, suspense and emotions.

Starring stylish actors like Subhasis Sharma and Poonam Mishra in lead roles, the film also features well known actor and director Mihir Swain as the lead antagonist. And surprisingly popular actor Krishna Kar aka KK has directed it under ‘Nihar Naman Films’ banner.

Happy being a part of this musical short film as it has been made on a very big scale, Mantu said to MCL, “It’s a love and revenge story. The villain of the story Mihir Bhai is looking very stylish in his new avatar. Poonam is a very cooperative actor; I hope people will like our chemistry on screen. Its presentation and approach is very fresh, so fingers crossed.”

Excited about his directorial debut, KK said, “It was like a dream come true for me. It has been produced with a budget larger than the usual for feature films nowadays. The producers Lipu Rout and Sipu Rout have left no stone unturned to make the short film look beautiful and attractive, just like a commercial film. Although it is a short movie, a lot of attention has been given to the story, music, acting, cinematography and other departments. I don’t think I can mention myself as the director of this project. I feel it’s a teamwork. Hope to get some love from our audience.”

Mihir was the college senior of KK and they both have worked together as actors in the serial ‘Parichay’. KK has worked under Mihir’s direction for some hit serials including ‘Indrajala’, ‘Gayatri’, ‘Sahanai’ and the recent one ‘Nua Bohu’, which is still continuing.

Mihir, who is seen in a very stylish look in this film, said to MCL, “Once KK called me up over phone late in the night and suddenly offered me the character and said he is going to direct it. I was surprised and before I could think anything else he made me say yes for it. I was not happy about the look he has given me; initially I was like oh god! I can’t walk on the streets with such a look (Chuckles).”

“I can still remember 12 years back when he started working under my direction, he once told me that one day he will make a film and will take me in the negative character and he fulfilled his promise today.” added Mihir.

While the story of this 15 minutes long musical short film has been written by Pupun, the lyrics have been penned by Dr. Nirmal Nayak and Sushil Dalei has composed the music.  TV Channel Head Shyama Prasad Mishra joined the evening as Chief Guest with the whole cast and crew of the film. Many dignitaries associated with the Odia film industry were also present in the event.
