Odisha Cabinet Approves ₹27,019 Crore for AB PMJAY and GJAY Implementation

The Odisha state cabinet has approved a ₹27,019.15 crore outlay for the rollout of the integrated Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PMJAY) and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) from April 1, 2025, to 2029-30. The decision, announced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi in the Assembly on Friday, was taken during the cabinet meeting held on Thursday.

Odisha will implement the scheme in collaboration with the National Health Authority (NHA) through a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Under this integrated scheme, around 3.46 crore people from 1.03 crore families will benefit from free treatment up to ₹5 lakh annually. Women beneficiaries will receive an additional ₹5 lakh per year, boosting their healthcare coverage.

In addition, the Ayushman Vayo-Vandana Yojana will be introduced for individuals above 70 years, regardless of their financial status. Under this scheme, they will be entitled to free treatment up to ₹5 lakh per family annually.

With these healthcare initiatives, Odisha residents will be able to access free treatment in 29,000 empanelled private and government hospitals nationwide, a significant increase from the previous 900 hospitals.

The CM also announced that over six lakh new beneficiaries from Odisha are expected to join the Ayushman Vayo-Vandana Yojana. Additionally, free treatment for all citizens will continue in all government hospitals across the state.
