Odisha Matriculation Examinations Conducted by BSE Begin Today
The matriculation examinations conducted by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) begin today. Over 5.22 lakh candidates, including those appearing for the Matriculation, Madhyama, and State Open School Certificate exams, are preparing for this crucial academic assessment.
The exams will be held at 3,133 centers across the state, with each session running from 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Students are advised to arrive at their respective centers by 7:30 AM to ensure smooth entry. The question papers will be dispatched from 314 nodal centers and are expected to reach the examination centers between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM.
The Class 10 board examinations are scheduled to begin on February 21, 2025, and will conclude on March 6, 2025. The Board of Secondary Education (BSE) Odisha has carefully designed the exam timetable, with the First Language paper kicking off on February 21, followed by the Second Language on February 23, Mathematics on February 26, Third Language on February 28, Science on March 4, and wrapping up with Social Science on March 6.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the exams and prevent any malpractices, BSE Odisha has implemented robust security protocols. Special measures have been taken to protect against question paper leaks, such as the use of sealed question papers and strict distribution procedures. The question papers have been equipped with QR codes and unique serial numbers, adding an extra layer of protection. Flying squads and static surveillance teams will be stationed at exam centers to monitor activities, and CCTV cameras have been installed at key locations to ensure the integrity of the process. Students are reminded to carry their admit cards and adhere to all exam day guidelines, including restrictions on electronic devices inside the exam halls.
For the 2025 exams, the BSE Odisha has introduced significant changes to the exam pattern and assessment criteria. The objective and subjective questions will now follow a 50:50 distribution in the summative assessment. Out of the total 100 marks, 50 will be allocated to multiple-choice questions (MCQs), while the remaining 50 marks will be dedicated to subjective questions. The internal assessment structure remains the same, with four Formative Assessments conducted quarterly throughout the year. These changes aim to offer a more balanced evaluation of students’ knowledge and analytical abilities.
Once the exams conclude on March 6, 2025, the evaluation process will begin. While the exact date for result declaration is yet to be announced, BSE Odisha expects to release the results in May 2025. Students who do not achieve satisfactory scores in the main exams will have the option to improve their performance through supplementary exams, with dates to be provided after the main results are released.
