Odisha State Sepaktakraw Association Holds Key Meeting, Announces Tournaments and Upcoming Events

The Executive Meeting of the Odisha State Sepaktakraw Association was held at Bocca Café in Bhubaneswar on 11th of June. Following this, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) was also conducted, during which all important matters were thoroughly discussed. Based on the suggestions and opinions of the members, decisions were made on several key issues.

The decisions regarding inter-district tournaments for the current year were taken. Sepak Takraw, often referred to as "kick volleyball," is a dynamic sport similar to volleyball but played without the use of hands. Players use their feet, knees, chest, and head to hit a ball made of rattan or synthetic fiber over a net. The use of hands is strictly prohibited. Originating in Malaysia and Thailand, Sepak Takraw has gained international recognition and has been a part of the Asian Games since 1990.

During the meeting, it was decided that the Senior category tournament will be held in Kendujhar in August, the Junior category tournament will be conducted in Sundargarh in the same month, and the Sub-Junior category tournament will be organized in Bhadrak in October.

It was also resolved that the National Sepak Takraw Championship will be held in September. To ensure the successful organization of the event, a structured organizing committee will be formed. Under its leadership, various sub-committees will be constituted to manage the event efficiently.

On August 29, the OSTTA (Odisha Sepaktakraw Association) will celebrate Sports Day, Foundation Day, and its Silver Jubilee. Efforts will be intensified to promote the sport's development across several districts.

Given the increasing need for trained sports officials, appropriate measures will be taken, and the matter will be discussed in detail. After some deliberation, the date and time of the next meeting will be finalized and communicated to all members.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks from Vice President Prabhas Subhadrashan Mohanty, followed by the closing remarks of President Satyabrata Rath.
