Odisha to Witness Heavy Rains and Thunderstorms Till May 31, Confirms IMD – No Cyclone Threat
Odisha is likely to experience heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds this week due to a low-pressure area forming over the west-central Bay of Bengal, according to the IMD.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for several parts of the state, warning of wind speeds reaching up to 50 km/h in isolated areas.
However, senior meteorologist Sarat Chandra Sahu confirmed that the system will not intensify into a cyclone and is typical of pre-monsoon conditions. There is no cyclone threat, and no alerts have been issued.
The southwest monsoon has already entered the northeastern states and is expected to reach Odisha soon, although with a slight delay.
Authorities have urged people to stay alert and follow standard safety measures during this period of unstable weather.
