Odisha Unveils Guidelines for Baristha Nagarik Tirtha Yatra Yojana 2026–27

The Odisha government has released the guidelines for the Baristha Nagarik Tirtha Yatra Yojana 2026–27, marking the official launch of the state's annual pilgrimage scheme for senior citizens.

The guidelines were unveiled by Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Pravati Parida during a press conference at Paryatan Bhawan in Bhubaneswar.

Speaking on the occasion, Parida said the scheme aims to help senior citizens undertake pilgrimages to prominent religious destinations across India with dignity, safety and government support.

According to the Tourism Department, applications for the 2026–27 edition of the scheme will be accepted from July 15 to August 14, 2026.

Eligible senior citizens can apply online through the official portal yatra.odisha.gov.in or submit applications through the offline process specified in the guidelines.The guidelines include details on eligibility criteria, application procedures, selection process and implementation of the scheme.

Since its launch, the Baristha Nagarik Tirtha Yatra Yojana has benefited more than 45,555 senior citizens, enabling them to visit major pilgrimage destinations across the country.

The event was attended by Tourism Commissioner-cum-Secretary Balwant Singh, Tourism Director Deepankar Mohapatra, IRCTC Bhubaneswar Regional Officer Anuj Dutta, and other senior officials from the Tourism Department and the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC).
