Odisha Water Resources Department to Transfer 14 Schools to SME
The Department of Water Resources (DoWR) has decided to hand over 14 schools under its control to the School and Mass Education (SME) department to streamline administration and enhance education services. The decision was made during a meeting led by Development Commissioner and Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg.
These 14 schools include five high schools, three upper primary, and six primary institutions, all part of major irrigation projects. A joint inspection by DoWR and SME officials will assess infrastructure, manpower, and student strength within a month.
Based on the inspection, authorities will decide whether to merge these schools with nearby institutions or allow them to operate independently. Post-transfer, SME will oversee staff management and service regularisation.
