Odisha's Chittaranjan Tripathy Takes Helm at NSD
Hailing from Odisha’s Chandabali, ace Indian film actor and director Chittaranjan Tripathy was appointed as the director of the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, on Thursday. With this he became the first Odia to be appointed to that post at NSD, which is one of the elite theatre training institutions in the country.
Chitaranjan, who belongs to Chandbali area of Bhadrak district is one of the few NSD alumni actors we have in Odisha. The list includes other veteran actors like Bijay Mohanty, Ajit Das, Manoj Mishra and Samaresh Routray. Tripathy had made an Odia movie named Dhauli Express where he was the producer, director, scriptwriter, music composer, lyricist and playback singer. This film received three Odisha State Film Awards, including best film. Later, he made another movie, 'Mukhyamantri' and has acted in other Odia films like ‘Biju Babu’, ‘Nimki’, ‘Adrushyam’, Four Idiots, etc.

The recognition has come after years of perseverance. He gained prominence in 2018 for playing 'Trivedi' in the series 'Sacred Games', which was released on a popular streaming platform.In 2017.He has acted in many Hindi films including ‘Delhi 6’, ‘Phantom’, ‘Shaandar’, ‘Talvar’, ‘Commando 2’, ‘Jagga Jasoos’, ‘Mukkabaaz’, ‘Fukrey Returns’, ‘Shubh Mangal Saavdhan’, ‘A Gentleman’, ‘Chhapaak’, ‘Dasvi’, ‘Phantom’, ‘Manto’ among others.
