Odisha’s Jitendra Mishra Appointed CIFEJ President

Noted film producer and promoter Jitendra Mishra has been elected as president of the International Centre of Film for Children and Young people for (CIFEJ) 2022. Mishra was born in Odisha’s Titlagarh. Jitendra’s body of work includes films such as The Last Colour, Desires Of The Heart and Human OAK. 

CIFEJ was formed by UNESCO in 1955 and it is an NGO active as the only global network of audio-visual media professionals working for children and young people. Its main goal has been to promote production of films and audio-visual media that are culturally diverse, artistic, educational, informative, and at the same time entertaining; especially designed for children and young people.

Through production of such films and audio visual media as well as providing group education for this age group, CIFEJ encourages them to respect their own rights and those of others, to respect cultural diversity, to show tolerance for racial, linguistic, and religious differences; thus it develops understanding among nations.

Jitendra feels that it is a big honour to be elected President of one of the oldest, largest and most prestigious global networks of audiovisual professionals. He thanked the management of Smile for their support, trust, confidence and for nominating him for this position.

Jitendra graduated in Law in 2000 and did his Masters in Commerce from Sambalpur University. Jitendra began his career as a production manager in a Delhi based production house and after two years he founded his own production house. He has designed and implemented several international festivals, workshops and campaigns including North East Film Festival in all the North Eastern states of India.
