Aviation Infrastructure Expansion
The Odisha government is taking major steps to upgrade its aviation sector under the B-MAAN (Building and Management of Aviation Assets and Network) initiative.
Plans include:
- 14 new airports and 15 heliports across districts to enhance regional air connectivity.
- Support for passenger services, pilot training, UAV operations, and aero sports.
- Launch of a cadet pilot programme to train tribal girls as commercial pilots, promoting skill development and employment.
- A new partnership with Air Works to set up a Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Biju Patnaik International Airport, Bhubaneswar, to serve as a training and maintenance hub.
- With these developments, Odisha is taking flight toward becoming one of India’s most connected and future-ready states.
