PM Modi to Inaugurate Seven Redeveloped Railway Stations in Odisha on 17th July

PM Narendra Modi will inaugurate 75 redeveloped railway stations across the country on July 17, including seven stations in Odisha upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS).

The seven stations are Balangir, Barpali, Paralakhemundi, Talcher, Kesinga, Baripada and Bimalgarh. Redeveloped at a cost of ₹109 crore, the stations have been modernised with improved passenger amenities and enhanced accessibility.

According to the East Coast Railway (ECoR), the upgraded stations feature modern station buildings, 12-metre-wide foot overbridges with lifts, wider approach roads, spacious waiting halls, improved platform shelters, modern toilets, upgraded lighting, digital passenger information systems and redesigned parking facilities.

The redevelopment also showcases Odisha's rich cultural heritage, with station designs incorporating local art, handloom, handicrafts and tribal motifs to reflect the state's unique identity.

ECoR said the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme aims to transform railway stations into modern, accessible and future-ready transport hubs while preserving regional architecture and culture.

Besides enhancing passenger convenience, the upgraded stations are expected to improve connectivity and support tourism, trade, education and local economic development across the region.
