Pratichee Mohapatra’s Journey With Mirzapur 2
Bollywood singer Pratichee Mohapatra is on a musical high with the most talked about web series ‘Mirzapur 2’. She mentions that her comradery with Mirzapur’s director Gurmmeet Singh has fetched her the chance to be a part of the project. “Gurmmeet is a dear friend of mine. I had worked with him earlier on ‘Inside Edge’. So when the second season of Mirzapur was under production, he approached me and said that there’s a song for me. I agreed to do it,” reveals Pratichee to My City Links.
The first season of Mirzapur was a huge hit. The fame had triggered the anticipation for season 2. Pratichee, who has lent her voice to the song ‘Sab Ho Jaane Do’ in Mirzapur 2, expressed that this particular song happened to her due to the grace of fate. “It was just a thing to do for my friend and become a part of this great world of Mirzapur.”
Unfortunately, she was diagnosed with cancer during this time. She said, “It was a relapse. I disappointingly had to excuse myself from the song. After a few months of my recovery, Gurmmeet asked me to sing another song and become a part of the album. That’s how ‘Sab Ho Jaane Do’ fell into my lap.”

Pratichee’s song ‘Kya Thi Meri Galti’ had put forth awareness about gender inequality and injustice. “It was a livathon that was hosted by Priyanka Chopra. The show had put forth different causes and awareness drives about women’s safety, rights etc in which I had performed the song. I have written that song from personal experience. There’s not one woman in this country who hasn’t faced some sort of harassment. The song came from a space where we needn’t ask for safety, rather claim it as our right,” she said.
Pratichee talked about OTT platforms contributing to the changing scenario of entertainment and said, “Nowadays, the opportunities have increased ten times than earlier through OTT platforms and the content they provide. The country has tremendous talent and since the opportunities have gone up now, more people are getting their foot in.”
After the huge success of Mirzapur 2, Pratichee is working on some interesting projects about which she said, “I am working on some songs with Ram Sampath which I have written. Apart from that, I have done a short film directed by Anand Iyer which is yet to be released.”

Though Pratichee was born in Kochi, she shares a warm connection with her homeland Odisha. TalkingNarrating about her childhood, she said, “My dad was in the Indian Navy. Although I have never lived in Odisha, for all our summer holidays we used to visit my home state. We used to visit either Bhubaneswar, Cuttack or my mom’s village. In fact, I can say that I have relatives in every lane of Bhubaneswar.”
