Price Regulation and Dress Code Soon at Puri Srimandir’s Anand Bazar
To enhance discipline and improve the experience for devotees, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) is set to implement key reforms in the management of Anand Bazar at Puri Srimandir.
In a recent high-level meeting chaired by Chief Administrator Aravind Padhee, officials decided to introduce a fixed price list for Abadha and Sukhili Bhog to ensure transparency and curb irregularities. Separate counters will be established for the sale and consumption of Mahaprasad and dry bhog items.
To maintain quality standards, the SJTA has directed that only Omfed ghee be used in bhog preparation. Action will be taken against Suar and Mahasuar servitors who violate this rule. The administration also plans to introduce organic rice for bhog preparation.
The meeting also focused on maintaining hygiene and order. A dress code and identity cards will soon be mandatory for Supakar servitors’ assistants working in Anand Bazar.
Additionally, discussions were held on improving the daily supply of firewood, which currently stands at 35 quintals, to ensure uninterrupted cooking in the temple kitchen. Functionality of the newly constructed Khaja shops was also reviewed.
Narayan Mahasuara, secretary of the Suara-Mahasuar Nijog, confirmed that all issues discussed aim to streamline Anand Bazar’s operations while preserving the sanctity and efficiency of temple rituals.
