Sabyasachi Mahapatra’s ‘Sala Budha’ Is Set To Wow Audiences At Indo-German Film Week

After winning the hearts of audiences and bagging numerous awards, filmmaker Sabyasachi Mohapatra’s ‘Sala Budha’ has been selected for the premiere at the prestigious Indo-German Film Week 2020 in Germany. The festival will be held from 24th to 30th September at the historic Babylon theatre in Berlin. The film will be screened multiple times including once on the opening day of the week-long festival. ‘Sala Budha’, which portrays the rich art, culture & tradition of western Odisha has won several awards earlier. The film was also selected for International Film Festival Of India’s Indian Panorama Section in 2013.

Expressing his happiness Sabyasachi said, “I am extremely happy and proud for the selection of my film for the Indo-German Film Week which has been a great platform for Indian films for many years and this is a first and very important milestone of our beautiful journey with Jitendra, I am sure we have a long way to go.”

Sabyasachi Mahapatra has joined hands with acclaimed film producer and promoter Jitendra Mishra for the international presentations of his films. They both have officially announced their collaboration in August 2020.

The CEO and Festival Director of Indo-German Film Week, Stephan Ottenbruch says, “We have been trying to promote the art, culture and tradition of India through best of Indian films in our festival. This time we are proud to present a film from Odisha for the first time at our festival. Sabyasachi’s ‘Sala Budha’ portrays the rich culture of Odisha. Thanks to Jitendra Mishra for curating this beautiful film for our program.”

Talking about the future of promoting the film, Jitendra Mishra said, “We have so many plans for these films in upcoming days. Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic many of our targeted festivals are being cancelled or postponed. Nevertheless, this is a sign of success for all of us. I am super excited that foreign audiences will experience the beautiful culture of our region on the big screen through this film.
