Singapore will be the country partner for 'Utkarsh Odisha: Make-in-Odisha Conclave 2025'
Singapore will be the first country partner for the 'Utkarsh Odisha: Make-in-Odisha Conclave 2025,' set to be held on January 28 and 29 next year.
High Commissioner of Singapore to India, Simon Wong, announced this during a meeting with Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday. Wong also revealed that Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam will visit Odisha as part of his India tour in January.
"Odisha is the only state President Tharman chose to visit, recognizing its immense potential for business collaborations along with strong cultural ties. The focus will be on petrochemicals, green energy, and skill development," Wong said.
The visit coincides with the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Singapore and India, which have evolved into a strategic partnership spanning trade, defense, technology, and culture. Singapore, one of India’s largest sources of FDI, also hosts a significant presence of Indian companies across IT, banking, and manufacturing sectors.
Chief Minister Majhi welcomed Wong and his delegation, expressing gratitude to the Singapore President for accepting the invitation. "There is tremendous potential for collaboration between Singapore and Odisha in areas such as petrochemicals, urban planning, tourism, renewable energy, and skill development," Majhi said.
The meeting highlighted opportunities for strengthening partnerships in IT, industrial park development, new energy, tourism, and cultural exchange.
The Odisha government has also extended invitations to other nations, including Japan and Germany, to join as country partners for the conclave. A total of 34 countries are expected to participate in the two-day mega investment summit.
Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, additional chief secretaries Nikunja Bihari Dhal and Satyabrata Sahu, and principal secretary of Electronics and IT Vishal Dev also attended the meeting.
