Sunidhi Chauhan And Kaushik-Guddu’s ‘Dugga Dugga’ Becomes A Massive Hit In Odisha
The COVID 19 pandemic has not been able to dampen the spirits of music lovers. The love pouring in for the sequel of 2019’s Puja theme song ‘Dugga Elo’ by Monali Thakur speaks volumes about that! Singer Sunidhi Chauhan and music composer duo Kaushik-Guddu have created a chartbuster with ‘Dugga Dugga’ and it has become a massive hit in Odisha as well as Bengal considering how important the festival is in this part of the country.
Kaushik-Guddu have collaborated for the first time with Sunidhi Chauhan for ‘Dugga Dugga’ on SVF Music. “We were thinking about another Durga Puja song this year. The concept of ‘Dugga Dugga’ came onboard with ‘Maa Durga’s blessings’. This is our first song with Sunidhi who has beautifully performed it in no time. We feel blessed that the song is receiving so much love,” said Kaushik.
For Sunidhi, ‘Dugga Dugga’ is her first Bengali single. Talking about her experience with MCL, Sunidhi said, “Yes, Dugga Dugga is my first Bengali single. Though I have sung Bengali songs before also, I had never had a chance to do something like this especially for ‘Puja’. I am very happy and excited to do my first non-film Puja song with Kaushik-Guddu, SVF music, and Indranil Das. I feel it’s a fabulous, energetic song and I am glad to know that people are already liking it very much.”
Further, Guddu explains that while ‘Dugga Elo’ revolved around the daily planning and activities of Durga Puja, Dugga Dugga is more inclined towards traditional values. “Even though the restrictions in the wake of the pandemic have put everyone in dilemma and negativity, the positive energies and vibes of Durga Puja have brought expectations to win over the odds with the blessings of Durga Maa,” he said.

Talking about the uniqueness of the song, Sunidhi said, “What’s unique about this song is, even though it’s a dance track, it does have a beautiful melody line that is catchy. You can also hear the same song on a piano and guitars and you will find it soothing. Hats off to Kaushik and Guddu for coming up with such a lovely creation.”
The song is penned by lyricist Indranil Das who was also associated with the previous track. He puts it as, “Dugga Dugga has a more universal and eternal theme and not only confines nostalgia in pandemic. The lyrics contain those elements or rituals that are inseparable from the spirit of the Puja and would continue to remain so even if certain rituals and practices may go through metamorphosis and evolution.”
Interestingly, Odisha’s Saugato Roy Choudhury and Prateek Gupta have played a crucial role in the whole project management of ‘Dugga Dugga’. Putting his experience into words, Saugato said, “Since the germination of the concept, until its release, ‘Dugga Dugga’ holds a special place in our hearts. As devotion for Goddess Durga is universal. I want this song to grow organically in the minds of our audience. I am thankful to the composers, Prateek and the whole team for making me a part of it.”
Kaushik-Guddu, who are cousins, have already proven their prowess in superhit songs like ‘Sajan Bade Senti’ (Badhai Ho), Loveyatri Title Track (Loveyatri), Main Hoon Saath Tere (Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana), Tera Hoke Rahoon (Behen Hogi Teri) and many other chart toppers. The duo has launched their regional Bengali music label ‘Taakdoom’ to promote independent music and have their upcoming release in Rohit Shetty’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead.
