Super Specialty Hospital Inaugurated at VIMSAR, Burla
Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated a new Super Specialty Hospital at VIMSAR, Burla in Sambalpur district. Spread across three acres, the state-of-the-art facility has been built at a cost of ₹150 crore by the state government.
The hospital, the first government-run super specialty facility in western Odisha, aims to serve people from 13 districts of the state, as well as patients from neighbouring Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand.
Chief Minister Majhi said the hospital is equipped with nine super specialty departments, a modular OT, ICU complex, CT scan facilities, and 272 beds, including 58 ICU beds. He highlighted its role in providing advanced care, especially for sickle cell patients, and its potential to strengthen medical education and research in Odisha.
Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan urged VIMSAR students to contribute to Odisha’s healthcare sector. “Don’t leave the state for jobs. Stay and serve the people of Odisha,” he said, addressing young medicos.
The event was also attended by Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling and Sambalpur MLA Jay Narayan Mishra, among others.
