This Upcoming Short Film By An Odia Producer Brings Up The Issue Of Extra Marital Affairs
The revolution of Internet and digital platforms like YouTube has fuelled creativity as a result of which short films’ production has seen a rise. Short films not only provide a great opportunity to filmmakers to showcase their talent but have also found a niche audience, thanks to the unique scripts, story-telling and direction. Tailor-made for the fast-paced digital era, an increasing number of filmmakers – including established names – are re-inventing themselves through these short films.
As short-films make an impact, Odia film-makers are not left behind. After two successful short films which met with good response, Odia producer Rajesh Mohanty is geared up for his third venture, ‘Ring-When Fate Strikes’ which deals with the issue of extra-marital affairs. Produced under his home banner, 24FPS ENTERTAINMENT LLP banner, the film stars Odia talent Swapna Pati, who has already carved a niche for herself as an actor cum social activist, model cum actor Rishabh Tiwari and Alexius Macleod, who is also acting in the film being made on Baba Ramdev, ‘Swami -Ek Sangharsh’.
Talking to My City Links, Mohanty said, “We are making these films in Hindi since we are not just making films for entertainment; we want to make people aware by delivering some social message. And, when the films are in Hindi, they can reach a wider audience. Since currently we are in an era of movies where content is king, we believe in developing creative content rather than go the copy-paste way. We are making such stories which people can relate to in their personal lives. This film has been shot inside Future Studios at Mumbai and we have worked hard to make it good, both production and content wise.”
Swapna, who was played the lead role in the earlier two films under the same banner, further elaborated, “Previously, we took up issues of women abuse through ‘W Short Film’ and the negative impacts of selfie through ‘One More Selfie’. ‘Ring – When Fate Strikes’ is based on extra marital affairs, and I am playing the character of the wife. I am quite excited about this film since these days, extra marital affairs have become quite a common phenomenon for which many long-term relationships and marriages are breaking off easily. We want to sensitise people on this issue.”
