Three Districts Of Odisha Bag SKOCH Awards For Aspirational Governance

Odisha has been aggressively leveraging on technology for development at the grassroots. As a result of which, three districts of the state – Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal and Nabarangpur – have bagged the prestigious SKOCH Awards for aspirational governance.

Jagatsinghpur district has won the prestigious SKOCH Crucible Award 2020 for e-governance.

Jagatsinghpur Collector Sangram Keshari Mohapatra tweeted the news and expressed his happiness on Wednesday and wrote that it is the only district in India where all offices function through e-office as per the 5T directives. He thanked Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for his constant guidance and support.

In another tweet on Thursday, he thanked DIO, NIC, DeGM and the entire IT team of the collectorate and announced that the office is going to soon have an e-office kiosk through which any citizen can know the status of their file at any point of time.

Jagatsinghpur became the first district in the country to go completely paperless with the launch of the e-office system in March of this year. All functions of the office have been digitised and the system envisions a paperless office. This has led to an increase in efficiency, transparency and expeditious movement of files which is benefiting the citizens.

Now the district administration has taken the digital initiative a notch further and introduced it at the gram panchayat level. The Collector tweeted on Wednesday that in the Balikuda block, hands-on training on e-office was imparted to all JEs and PEOs as part of the process of reengineering and ensuring transparency of the administration at the grassroots level.

Kandhamal district has won the SKOCH award (silver) for being the aspirational district in the country for the year 2020 for its innovative project – “implementation of the delivery van, bike ambulance and Janani Auto for the improvement of maternal health.” District collector Dr. Brunda D congratulated the entire team in a tweet.

Kandhamal district administration had introduced the delivery vans for pregnant women which are equipped with all necessary facilities for delivering a child.  It had also introduced bike ambulances and Janani Autos which will help carry pregnant women from remote locations to nearby hospitals and health facilities.

Similarly, Nabarangpur district won the SKOCH award (platinum) for being an aspirational district for farm-based scientific and technological intervention for socio-economic development for the year 2020.

The collector of Nabarangpur, Dr Ajit Kumar Mishra dedicated the honour and recognition to the people of the district and credited the science and technology intervention team for it through a tweet.

CM Naveen Patnaik congratulated the collector as Odisha is leveraging on technology for development and progress at the grassroots level.
